Just Projectors review on the Optoma DH401

It has a wide throw ratio so it gives you quite a bit of flexibility in where you can mount your projector. The keystone correction will also give you that extra freedom because if you cannot mount your projector in the centre of the screen and are slightly off-set, this feature will help you still project in the middle of the screen. We can also help you with a screen if you are unsure which one to go for. It is also light enough to carry from room to room as it is only 2.99KGs.

The 1080p Full HD resolution will be suitable for anything you wish to project from basic data to Blu Ray movies. The DH401 has two HDMI inputs allowing you to connect to any source and show your image in high definition. It also features MHL so you can show content in high definition from your mobile device. There is also a VGA input so you can connect to older laptops. There is also a USB port for mouse control and PC-free presentations, giving you less to transport. You will be able to connect to multiple sources without swapping the cables around. It is environmentally friendly and has energy saving features including Eco+ lamp power management. It has a long lamp life of 7000 hours so you won't be needing to think about lamp replacements anytime soon! The DH401 also supports 3D. Overall, this is a great, powerful unit with great connectivity. Check out the PDF to the left for more information.

What Optoma say about the DH401

Project high resolution visuals regardless of the ambient light level using the bright full HD 1080p DH401. Designed for businesses and professional installation environments this compact and powerful projector can be installed or taken on the move. Perfect for small edge blending and stacking projects.

Easy to connect to with multiple inputs including two HDMI, MHL, VGA and a built in 10W speaker. You can even present wirelessly using the HDCast Pro (sold separately) or use the USB Power to connect and power HDMI dongles such as the Google Chromecast. For more complex installations, this projector is equipped with a large 1.6x zoom range, vertical lens shift and networking features for remote monitoring and control.

Turn your projector into a smart display by connecting your smartphone or tablet with a single cable using MHL; now you can view presentations and documents, stream videos and share photos on the big screen. You can even use MHL to connect and power the HDCast Pro (sold separately).

Eco AV mute
Stay in control of your presentation with Eco AV mute. Direct your audience's attention away from the screen by blanking the image when no longer needed. This also reduces the power consumption by up to 70%, further prolonging the life of your lamp.

Auto power off
There may be instances when the projector is left running when not in use. To help save energy, the "Auto Power Off" feature automatically turns off the projector after a set period of time if it is not being used

High contrast
Add more depth to your image with a high contrast projector; with brighter whites and ultra-rich blacks, images come alive and text appears crisp and clear - ideal for business and education applications.

Full 3D
Optoma projectors can display true 3D content from almost any 3D source, including 3D Blu-ray players, 3D broadcasting and the latest generation games consoles. Support for 144Hz rapid refresh rate provides ultra-smooth flicker free images.

Colour guarantee
Enjoy dazzling colours for years to come; guaranteed by Optoma for five years’ consistent performance.

Vertical lens shift
Simplify installation with vertical lens shift, which provides a wider range of projector placement possibilities. This makes it easier to position the projector in your room and enables a wider range of screen size options.

USB power
Use the USB-Power to power an HDMI dongle, such as Google Chromecast.

Energy saving
Using the specially designed lamp modes, you can reduce the power consumption by up to 70%. Each mode also has a positive effect on the lamp life, while lowering the total cost of ownership and reducing maintenance.

Quick resume
This feature allows the projector to be instantly powered on again, if it is accidentally switched off.

Wireless
Stream Full 1080p 3D content to your projector wirelessly; eliminating the hassle and extra cost of installing long cables, the WHD200 (sold separately) allows you to connect a Blu-ray™ player, set-top box, gaming console or AV receiver instantly.

Remote mouse and laser
Keep your audience’s attention focussed on the right things using the simple, yet powerful remote with USB mouse control and built in laser pointer.

About Education Projectors

About Education Projectors

Education is huge for manufacturers want some of the action so you will often see better warranties for education and excellent discounts when multi purchases are made.

Ultra Short Throw models for Education

We have in the last few years seen the introduction of the Ultra short throws which are ideally mounted over an interactive whiteboard or just a standard whiteboard. The huge benefit of these short throw education units are they do not let the teacher stand there all day with beam of the image into their eye. However with all things the manufacturers have now managed to make many of these short throws are interactive and this has started to see being able to use these projectors just a like projector and whiteboard combination but only at say half the price. Yes they are not as good as the projector and whiteboard but as I said the price is lower but also they are mobile, so maybe a room without the budget for an interactive whiteboard can have an interactive projector. Remember to get the right brightness for your room, short throws don't need so many lumens as they are closer.

Resolution Improvements

Please don't buy SVGA projectors unless your budget is so restricted or its just a back up. Most manufacturers have dumped this low quality resolution because pcs etc that you link too have improved so much that SVGA is really not up to spec and not future proof. XGA resolution has also adapted to a new resolution known as WXGA which is a wide screen resolution. This has been as a result of general tendency for us to want to see more on our displays such as monitors and the software like windows 7 and above allowing us have have multiple windows side by side. Projectors therefore have gone from 1024 x 768 (4:3) pixels on the XGA to 1280 x 800 (16:10). So if you have interactive whiteboards that are 4:3 then go for XGA but the newer whiteboards are 16:10 so go for WXGA.

Lamp Free Models

Frankly this is a bit of a sales pitch to education who tend to run them for the longest time during the day and of course tend to have quote a "green policy" approach to the purchasing. If a school model has a lamp life of say 20,000 hours and cost £1000 and another one costs £400 with a lamp life of 5000 hours and the lamp replacement cost is £100. To get 20,000 hours on the cheaper unit the cost is £400+3 x £100 = £700, a saving of £300. Yes you do have to change the lamps , so there is a bit of hassle but buying a projector solely on lamp life isn't the best use of your money. Also the lamp free ones cant have a replacement, once the lamp life goes then it is thrown away..not that green. Also the DLP /LED Hybrid has had some reported problem in the blues fading, I'm not sure how much of that is such a small percentage but it is still fairly new concept and there are things to iron out.

ABOUT JUST PROJECTORS

We provide advice on the phone listening to your requirements we are able to help you get the right one as we have trained staff . We have a network of installers to cover your area. On higher end models we can arrange a loan or demo. We think most people should buy HD resolution , they are so affordable now and you wouldn't buy a 5 year old laptop so why buy SVGA which is over 20 years old. Yes XGA & WXGA are ideal for simple presentations and education use but we have all been use to decent home TV's or high resolution phones or tables so why put a huge image on the wall/screen which is inferior. There are some great brands out there BenQ, Infocus, Epson and less known ones like EIKI or Vivitek. Yes you can buy the wrong one, this is why we still offer advice rather than just an add to cart website. We have a price promise, we see the models, we often put one against another and see which one is best. We only buy UK stock, which has higher warranty standards to ensure you get real value for money. We don't sell the cheap brands as the lumens isn't verified.  Look at our name it tells you that we are committed to this product and we have a great reputation in the market place for price and customer service.  We supply the UK but also in Ireland, we offer a 1-3 day service to Ireland.
