About Electric Rear
Electric Rear Projection Screens can be either ceiling or wall mounted. The Electric Rear Projector Screen is chosen when you want a permanent screen solution with the projected mounted behind the screen, and they do give you the flexibility whether to keep the screen down showing all the time or you can put the screen back into the canister, not unlike a roller blind. You will spend more money on a good quality electric rear projection screen if it has excellent mounting options, making it very easy to both wall and ceiling mount. Also the electric spring motor mechanism can vary dramatically between each screen, and if you are planning to have the screen up and down regularly then you will need a good quality one. Hence why we have chosen these electric projector screens, not just the cheapest that we can source but an electric rear projection screen that will last you years. Most Electric Rear Projection Screens will have a black border which is preferable because it gives you a better viewing experience, as your eyes tend to see what is inside the images better without the distraction of the wall. You should match your shape (aspect ratio) of the image you are projecting to the shape of the screen. Aspect ratio is simply the ratio between the width of the picture and the height of the picture. The three most common aspect ratios are 1:1, 4:3 and 16:9. 1:1 is an old format based on overhead projectors but you will always have some white edges showing. 4:3 is traditionally a TV format although in recent times the trend is going more towards widescreen. Older PC's or laptops will display this format. This is the most popular shape if you need to use 16:9 occasionally as well as 4:3 as you can achieve the wider format by not having the screen down as far. 16:9 is commonly known as widescreen format, and is used for displaying film, modern PC's or laptops, DVD's or gaming. If you are unsure what aspect ratio you are running with your PC/laptop then follow these simple steps: - Right click on your desktop choose "properties" - Within the properties tab choose "settings" - On the bottom left of the settings tab is the resolution numbers. 800 x 600 / 1024 x 768 / 1152 x 864 = 4:3 format. 1280 x 720 / 1920 x 1080 / 1600 x 900 = 16:9 format. 1280 x 800 = 16:10. Electric Rear Projection Screens are best suited for classrooms and training rooms or even in your home. They are a more expensive than an Electric Front Projection Screen and if your budget is tight it is far better to spend more money on the projector and then spend less getting a Manual Rear Projection Screen rather than an Electric Rear Projection Screen. If you have the following audience sizes we recommend the visible viewing areas to be as follows: 1-50 people - up to 1.8m; 51-150 people - up to 2.5m; 151-200 people - up to 3m. If your audience size is more than 200 people then call to discuss. If you want to get your electric screen to come down when you switch on your projector then you will need either a projector that has RS232 connection, put your electric screen into a Crestron or equivalent system, or a 12v Trigger relay. Not all electric rear projection screens are remote controlled as standard, they tend to include a wall switch or a cable hanging from the canister with an up & down option. Some of ourscreens include a remote as standard, others have optional remote controls which can either be infra-red needing a line of sight or RF (radio frequency) that doesn't. You will find any accessories for each screen by hovering over the "Projection Screens" tab, and choosing the appropriate option under "Screen Accessories". All of our screens are quoted as visible viewing sizes so there will be an extra length of the canister and in most cases a black border. If you wish to speak to our projector screen specialist then give Deborah a call on 01256 885860.

A few important things, all sizes are for the viewing not the canister so check out our page for the whole dimension size and measure. Get the right size for the room and audience. 2m is great for under 50 people. Short Throw projectors must use fixed flat surface screens. The bigger the drop down screen is, the more important it is tensioned to avoid creases. Matt white screens are standard and suit 98% of all needs.
