Determine the throw ratio that you will require for your room. The throw ratio is determined as follows: TR (throw ratio) = D (distance from lens placement to wall)/W (Width of the screen). On the box of the projector you want to buy will be the throw ratio, typically 2.0:1 to 2.4: 1. So, if you are setting the projector 14 feet away from the wall and you want your screen width to be 7 feet you would calculate as so: 14/7 = 2. Your throw ratio is 2.0.Choose the wall that the screen will be cast upon and measure the width that you want. For this example we are going with 8 feet. The projector you have has a 2.4 throw ratio. In this case we use the following formula; D = TR * W. So, 8 * 2.4 = 19.2 feet.
