The Hitachi CP-RX80 is not your standard cheap projector. This model features 2200 ANSI lumens, a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution, and a 400:1 contrast ratio. Recently, this projector was reviewed by the writers at Register Hardware. The writers were a little surprised to notice that Hitachi labeled this projector as a portable projector. The RX80 does not come with a built in handle or any carrying case. This led the writers to think that anyone who needs to transport this projector will get burnt fingers due to heat generated by the lamp. Fortunately thought this is not the case because the chassis never seems to heat up more than being "gently warm." Another concern the writer had was that the projector had no digital inputs. This meant that in order to use a DVI connection you need to use an adapter, which ultimately adds more to what you need to travel with. The image quality was very impressive for the writers. The projector produced very crisp and sharp images. A bargain price means you have to make sacrifices: the lack of any digital inputs limits your options. On the other hand, the image quality is excellent, and that's what matters most in a general purpose projector.
